Twitter’s API has been updated to allow access to direct messages. I suspect we’ll see new versions of all our favorite twitter tools soon to support this new feature and I’m glad to see it. I wonder it this is what’s been causing the extra strain on the servers today.

The main usage people are speculating at are things like sending a message to a twitter name like “movies” and getting back a current list of movies playing, or scores or weather or stocks… the list goes on.
